Realization

Realization

I can't remember a day without you,
It's a constant, like after one it's two,
You always follow me wher'ver I go,
Where I'm there, so are you, like a shadow,

At some point I saw you loom over me,
I couldn't bear it, couldn't stand to see,
Like you're stronger than me, and I'm weaker,
So I pushed you away, out from arms' reach,
I drew a line you can't breach, I burned our bridge,

And I realized as we grew older,
My actions —terrible— were a mistake,
Confused by your kindness, I acted cru'l*,
So this is me atoning for my sins,
Forgive me, and I'll make it up to you.
